The Boy With The Blue Eyes - True Story Time
When I was 6, my mom took me to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for carnival. I remember wearing a little Bahiana outfit and trying to dance samba on the street. At some point, 2 street boys started dancing with me and one had piercing blue-ish eyes, who I instantly fell in love with. My mom wanted to go get some skewers from the food truck and he told her to not worry, he’d make sure I was safe. So she came back with 2 extra skewers for the boys. I didn’t speak Portuguese at the time so we just kept dancing until my mom said it was time to leave. They were the sweetest boys. We went and got my very first ready to eat roasted chicken with bread and the very first grape Fanta I’ve ever had, which became my favorite thing to get when not feeling like cooking at home. After we ate, my mom packaged up what was left and we brought it back to that spot where the boys were. We found the brother, but the boy with the blue eyes became a person I always look for when in Rio, think of when boarding a plane and pray his life turned around hoping he has a wonderful life. It’s been 37 years and I still think of that boy. #VenusLeone
